Murgon Sale Market Report 12/08/25

800 were yarded in Murgon yesterday for the fortnightly liveweight sale. The prices were on the high again, most noticeable in the Export and Feeder types, with various descriptions in the younger cattle. Medium bulls topped at $3.26/kg for $1800/hd and heavy bulls made $3.20/kg for $2700/hd. Light cows varied in quality and prices with them ranging from $2.20 - $2.60/kg. Store cows up to 500kg ranged from $2.70 - $2.95/kg and heavy cows topped at $3.58/kg. The steer market is still holding strong especially in the feeder weight bracket. Steers under 200kg topped at $4.58/kg and averaged at $3.73/kg. 200-300kg topped at $4.40/g, 300-400kg topped at $4.36/kg, 400-500kg topped at $4.48/kg, and heavy steers in the 500-600kg weight range topped at $3.90/kg. Heifers under 200kg topped at $3.60/kg, 200-300kg topped at $3.62/kg, 300-400kg topped at $3.94/kg and heavier heifers in the 400-500kg weight bracket topped at $3.80/kg. Highlight sale of the day was the 14 PTIC Santa Gertrudis heifers offered by local vendor Margie Lee from Broadmere sold for $2000/hd to one vendor.
