Murgon saleyards report Tues 14 Sept, 2021.
Overall a very strong market at the Murgon SBLX saleyards Tuesday the 14th of September.
The market improved considerably despite deteriorating seasonal conditions in the Burnett area.
The yarding consisted of 850 head of cattle drawn from local areas as well as, Mt Perry, Gayndah, Mundubbera, Kilkivan, Auburn and the Brisbane Valley.
There was very strong buying support from the usual processors & feedlots as well as Darling Downs, North Burnett and NSW buyer representatives.
Export cattle found strong support from processors and prices were pushed along by store buyers on the second grade cows and steers.
Heavy cows sold to 364.2c/kg, $2367 / head to avg. $2258. Cows 500-600kg 356.2c, $2119 to avg $1902.
Diamond L Charbrays and Charolais sold cows 327.2c 597.5kg $1955 to NSW processors.
Droughtmaster cows from Kilkivan sold for 364.c, 650kg $2367 to SEQ processors.
Charolais Steers from ‘Wangella’ Kilkivan topped at 700.2c/kg 160.7kg $1125 selling to NSW buyer reps. Second top steers a good run of Brangus steers from ‘Yerilga’ Mt Perry sold 698.2c 199.6kg $1394 to NSW buyer reps.
A great run of heavy weaner Santa Gertrudis steers sold for 668c/kg with the heifer portion making 572c/kg.
Store heifers were in strong demand topping at 610.2c/kg 199.6kg $1394 for a run of Brangus heifers from Mt Perry and going to NSW buyer reps.
A good run of PTIC cows from Stuart Apel ‘Mt Auburn’ sold for $2010 / head to Kelly Bros from Boat Mountain
